Park City! Home of skiing and Mormons…aka the most romantic of Bachelor getaways. Shall we dive in?
Here’s the breakdown. The ladies show up in Park City, and Rachel finds out she gets the first one-on-one date. The crafty producers try to insinuate that she’s going to be sent packing (mostly because we see footage of her…packing…) but even though her date is criminally boring, Ben decides to keep her around after she makes a rambling speech about how it’s difficult for her to communicate. All I have to say about that is, DUH.
Oh, and they take off from the house in a helicopter. Kacie is not doing well with this…she has classic JP syndrome and since she’s the early favorite, has a very hard time sharing Ben. It gets pretty annoying to hear her again and again talk about how hard it is, but I think that’s a really genuine reaction – this is a pretty strange situation, of course it’s going to be hard watching him go on dates with other women.
Time for a group date! This date was not very conducive for one-on-one time…first they go horseback riding (Lyndzi of course almost pees herself) and then they go fly fishing. Ben spends some time with Kacie showing her how to fish, which she loves, but then focuses in on Courtney, who catches an actual FISH. The bitch.
Courtney REVELS in her newfound fish glory, but when they get to the cocktail party, Ben has other things on his mind. He shares a moment with Nicki when they talk about how they recently both lost friends/coworkers, but then Samantha starts whining about how Ben doesn’t want to take her on a one-on-one date. He promptly sends her home then and there. Ashley Spivey tweeted about how something else had to have happened and I agree – that seemed really weird and rude on his part. What are we missing here?
Anyway, Kacie gets some time with Ben, where he is really cute and tells her that when they were fishing together he really wanted to kiss her. It’s pretttty cute. I think she’s in it for the long haul.
THEN. Courtney gets Ben alone, and starts telling him that she’s really doubting what they had and how difficult it is to see him with other girls. She seems incredibly manipulative to me. Instead of laying the smackdown on her like he did with Samantha, Ben toddles off and obediently gets her the rose. Courtney swaggers around saying “winning.” Class. Kacie, etc are pissed.
Jennifer gets the next one-on-one date and they have to rappel down into a crater…then they fall in. Evidently it was romantic, though I didn’t see it. I do really like Jennifer though. They go on a really sweet date in the rain and it seems like there may be a real, albeit slower, connection between them. He gives her the rose.
Time for the cocktail party. Major dramz breaks out – Emily is talking smack about Courtney, and goes to Ben and tells him that she thinks Courtney is two-faced. Ben is not impressed. She then tells Courtney’s best friend in the house, Casey. Casey shows major integrity and defends her friend (even though it appears that her friend sucks…but still classy) and then goes and tells Courtney what Emily was saying about her. Courtney confronts Emily, who acts innocent.
I HATE when people do this – when you know for a fact that someone is talking shit about you but they won’t admit it. It was immature when this other girl my 7th grade tennis team did this to me, and it’s immature now. Talking about Courtney ultimately does her no favors, because Ben loooves Courtney and she already has a rose.
At the rose ceremony, Emily gets the final rose – seems like Ben was trying to teach her a lesson (anyone else think Ben is getting a little weirdly controlling? I don’t like it.) by holding out till the last minute. Monica is the one to go home, and she cries into her boobs as she leaves the house. I kind of loved Monica for being over the top and a good friend (and perhaps lesbian?) so I was sad she left, but not surprised.
Right now, it seems that Kacie and Courtney are tied for the #1 spot, with Jennifer close behind. Can’t wait for Puerto RICOOO! See you then!
